Thank you for your interest in MESA’s online course: On-Farm Fire Resilience, starting February 2020.

All course materials and Course Registration are free for farmers and ranchers.

Non-farmers and those that are able are encouraged to submit a fee through the contribution option below, as this course is being subsidized intentionally for farmers/ranchers. However, no one will be turned away for lack of funds!

Update: All (optional) Course Fees will be donated to Fire Relief for Farmers and Farmworkers impacted by the 2019 Fires!

Time Commitments

The Course will run February 13-March 26 2019. There are 7 Lessons that are self-paced with 7 live online sessions. Each lesson contains around an hour of pre-recorded videos to be reviewed before each session. Additionally, we estimate you’ll spend around 1 hour for applied activities. This course is designed to take 7 weeks.

Who can take this course:

  • While this course is tailored for people currently farming or ranching in California, anyone regardless of region or profession are encouraged to join. One-on-one feedback for On-Farm Fire Resilience Plans as well as Applied Assignments however, will be reserved for farmers and ranchers.
  • You must have a strong interest and desire to practice fire resilient farming/ranching
  • Note: There is no scale requirement for your operation. Prior experience with fire resilient farming not required. Background in organic/sustainable/agroecological farming and ranching also not required.
